Hire-Ready: The New-Grad Nurse Kit cover and the 'What nurse leaders listen for' page, a printable resume, interview and first-90-days workbook

You're ready to learn. The hard part is proving it in a 30-minute interview.

Every posting seems to want a year of experience. Your resume looks like your classmates'. You've read the "top 50 nursing interview questions" lists, and "tell me about yourself" still makes your mind go blank. Then a "your patient's pressure drops, what do you do?" question lands.

Most nurse leaders aren't looking for the new grad who knows everything. They're asking one question: "Will this person be safe, and can we grow them?"

Hire-Ready shows you how to answer that question honestly: on paper, out loud, and in your first 90 days.

Without a plan

  • A list of questions, with no idea what each one is really checking
  • A generic resume that undersells your clinicals and past jobs
  • Rambling answers or memorized scripts
  • Saying yes to the first offer without comparing orientation and support
  • Orientation that feels like drinking from a fire hose

With Hire-Ready

  • The 8 signals nurse leaders listen for, and how to show each one
  • A resume blueprint and bullet builder that turn clinicals into strengths
  • A 60-second story, STAR stories from your own clinicals, and a safe-order framework for scenarios
  • An offer comparison worksheet that scores what matters to you
  • A 30-60-90 plan, preceptor check-ins, a shift organizer and SBAR prep
Who wrote it

Written from the side of the table that does the hiring

I'm Krystin Sylvia, BSN, RN. I'm a nurse leader in long-term care, and part of my job is reading resumes, interviewing new graduates and helping them through orientation. I'm also still a student myself, so I remember sitting on your side of the table.

I built this kit around what I listen for, not around a generic list of questions.

It's a new product, so there are no reviews yet, and I won't post fake ones. Read the free sample and judge for yourself.

Floor to Charge

You made it through your first year. Now people are starting to ask you things. A new grad wants to shadow you, the charge nurse hands you the phone "for ten minutes," and your manager asks if you've ever thought about charge. Floor to Charge is the kit I'd give a nurse on my team at that point. It has a year-by-year map of what to master and when to ask for more. It has the actual words for huddles, delegation and hard conversations, a preceptor plan with feedback scripts and weekly check-ins, and a self-assessment that shows you where you're ready and where you're not there yet. You get 25 printable pages and an editable tracker, written by Krystin Sylvia, BSN, RN, a nurse leader who interviews, hires and orients nurses.

Floor to Charge cover: a year 1 to 3 growth guide, charge nurse starter pack, preceptor kit, and next-role self-assessment, by Krystin Sylvia, BSN, RNFloor to Charge page preview with a shift-start checklist, a 5-minute huddle script, and a delegation cheat sheet

What's inside

  • Years 1-3 growth guide. What to master each year, signs you're ready to stretch, the common traps, and scripts for asking your manager for more (plus what to say when the answer is "not yet").
  • Charge nurse starter pack. A shift-start checklist, a 5-minute huddle script, a one-page charge shift sheet, and a delegation cheat sheet built on the five rights of delegation, with 10 delegation scripts.
  • Conflict and hard-conversation scripts. A one-page plan, then scripts for teammates in conflict, a refused assignment, an upset family, escalating staffing to your supervisor, and telling your manager something went wrong.
  • Preceptor kit. How to orient a new grad, an orientation roadmap, 10 feedback scripts, a weekly check-in that matches the one in Hire-Ready, and a support plan for when orientation isn't going well.
  • Ready-for-next-role self-assessment and resume update. 30 statements in 6 areas with a scoring key and a 90-day plan page. Then an experienced-nurse resume layout and 6 bullet formulas with made-up examples.
  • Editable tracker (Excel / Google Sheets). It scores your self-assessment and charts your areas. It also tracks goals with overdue flags, logs your wins as resume bullets, counts your charge shifts, and reminds you when to check back with your manager.

Who it's for

Nurses about one to three years in, newer charge nurses, and anyone who's been asked to precept. It works in hospitals, long-term care, assisted living, rehab and home care. If you're still in school or applying for your first job, start with Hire-Ready. If you're moving into a manager or wellness director role, the Wellness Director's Toolkit is the better fit.

Free sample: Your first charge shift

Your first charge shift is a free 3-page sample. It has the shift-start checklist and the 5-minute huddle script from Floor to Charge. Print them, cross off what doesn't fit your unit, and keep them in your pocket. No email required.

"But…"

"I don't have any real nursing experience yet."

Nobody expects you to. The bullet builder turns clinicals, simulation, and past jobs like retail, CNA or food service into the strengths leaders hire new grads for.

"I'm not applying to hospitals."

Good, many great first jobs aren't in hospitals. The kit includes questions to ask in long-term care, assisted living, rehab and home care.

"I'm on a student budget."

Fair. Start with the free 4 pages. If you buy, it's $17 once, with no subscription and a 14-day refund.

"I don't have time for another workbook."

Use only the pages you need right now. Most are one page, and the tracker does the follow-up math for you.

Questions

Is this NCLEX prep?

No. It's a career and transition workbook: resume, interview and first 90 days. It doesn't teach exam content, and it doesn't promise any exam result.

Will this get me a job?

I can't promise that, and no one honestly can. It helps you prepare, practice and show your strengths clearly. The offer depends on you, the employer and the job market.

I'm still in school. Is it too early?

No. The clinical-day prep, study planner and STAR story builder are most useful in your last two semesters. That's when you collect the stories you'll tell in interviews.

Is it only for hospital jobs?

No. It works for a first RN or LPN role in any setting, and it includes questions to ask in long-term care, assisted living, rehab and home care.

Will it help with nurse residency program interviews?

Yes for the interview itself: the question types, STAR stories, scenario framework and questions to ask all apply. It doesn't include residency application essays.

What do I get, and how is it delivered?

A 24-page printable PDF and an editable .xlsx tracker. You download them on the confirmation page right after checkout. Nothing is shipped. The Student-to-Leader Bundle includes Hire-Ready and the Wellness Director's Toolkit. The New Grad to Nurse Leader Bundle includes all three kits.

Who is Floor to Charge for?

Nurses about one to three years in, newer charge nurses, and anyone who's been asked to precept. It works in hospitals, long-term care, assisted living, rehab and home care. If you're still in school or applying for your first job, start with Hire-Ready. If you're moving into a manager or wellness director role, the Wellness Director's Toolkit is the better fit.

Is Floor to Charge a charge nurse course or certification?

No. It's a printable workbook with checklists, scripts and planning pages. It doesn't give CE credit, a certificate or a competency sign-off. Your facility's charge nurse orientation and competency program come first.

Will Floor to Charge get me promoted to charge?

I can't promise that, and no one honestly can. It helps you build the skills, gather your examples and ask for the role in a clear way. The decision belongs to you, your manager and your facility.

Are the Floor to Charge scripts clinical or legal advice?

No. They're starting points for conversations, and you should change the words to fit your unit and your own voice. Always follow your employer's policies, your state's nurse practice act and your scope of practice. For anything that could lead to discipline or a formal report, bring in your manager or HR.

What do I get with Floor to Charge, and how is it delivered?

A 27-page PDF (25 printable pages plus a cover and back page) and an editable .xlsx tracker. You download both on the confirmation page right after checkout. Nothing is shipped. The PDF prints cleanly in black and white, or you can write on it in most PDF note-taking apps. The tracker opens in Excel or Google Sheets (File > Import).

What's the refund policy for Floor to Charge?

There is a 14-day not-a-fit refund. If it is not a fit, ask within 14 days of purchase through LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/krystin-sylvia-237823396. You do not need to give a reason. After a refund, download access is turned off. If a file will not open, use the same LinkedIn link and it will be fixed or replaced.

Can I fill it in on my iPad?

The PDF prints cleanly in black and white, and you can import it into most PDF note-taking apps and write on it. It doesn't have typed-in form fields. The tracker is fully editable in Excel or Google Sheets (File > Import).

Can I write patient information on it?

Please don't. The pages have no fields for patient names or identifiers. Follow your school's and facility's rules for report sheets.

What's your refund policy?

There is a 14-day not-a-fit refund. If it is not a fit, ask within 14 days of purchase through LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/krystin-sylvia-237823396. You do not need to give a reason. Each purchase is for one person. For a cohort, residency program or unit, message Krystin Sylvia on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/krystin-sylvia-237823396.
